Form Fee
(a) For
Police Inspector:
- "When submitting an application online, an application fee of Rs. 1,200 (One thousand two hundred rupees) must be paid. Additionally, for candidates applying for more than one group, an extra fee of 20% (Rs. 240) per group will be charged.
(b) For Assistant Police Inspector:
- "When submitting an application online, an application fee of Rs. 500 (Five hundred rupees) must be paid. Additionally, for candidates applying for more than one group, an extra fee of 20% (Rs. 100) per group will be charged.
Age Limit:
(a) For
Police Inspector:
(a) Candidates must be at least 20 years old and
not exceed 25 years by the final application date. However,
for non-gazetted police employees participating in the open competition, the
age limit is 35 years, and the candidate must have completed the
basic police or police officer training.
(b) For technical police employees, if appointed before the
amendment of the Police Regulations 2058, or appointed in
accordance with the Police Regulations 2071 (with amendments),
they can compete for the position of Police Inspector under the General
Police Group if they meet the age criteria for the position of
Assistant Sub Inspector within the General Police Group.
(c) For current non-gazetted police employees, the candidate
should not exceed 25 years, according to rule 40 of the Police
Regulations 2071 (with amendments).
(b) For Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI):
- (a)
Candidates must be at least 18 years old and not
exceed 24 years by the final application date. However,
for non-gazetted police employees participating in the open competition,
the age limit is 35 years, and the candidate must have
completed the basic police training.
- (b)
For current non-gazetted police employees, the candidate should not
exceed 25 years, according to rule 40 of the Police
Regulations 2071 (with amendments).
Required Qualification
(a) For
Police Inspector
- Educational Qualification: Must have passed at least a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent from a recognized university.
- Must not have been found guilty of any moral turpitude in any criminal case.
- Must not have been involved in violations of human rights or humanitarian law.
- Must not be a member of any political party.
- Must not be a member of any terrorist organization.
- Height, Chest, and Weight:
- Male: Height at least 5 feet 2 inches, chest 31-33 inches, weight 50 kg.
- Female: Height at least 5 feet, weight at least 42 kg.
- Eyesight should not be weaker than minus 2 or plus 2.
- Must have a certificate of fitness issued by an authorized medical officer appointed by the Nepal Police Headquarters (during the examination process).
- Must be a Nepali citizen.
(b) For Assistant Police Inspector
- Educational Qualification: Must have passed a certified level or equivalent from a recognized university or educational institution.
- Must meet all the qualifications specified from clause (b) to (h) for the position of Police Inspector.
Documents to be included with the application:
(a) Proof of Nepali
citizenship.
(b) A recently taken
passport-size photo (both ears visible), meeting the resolution and size
requirements as specified by ORMS (for males, with beard and hair
trimmed).
(c) Proof of educational
qualifications obtained (for each level, including character certificate,
permanent or provisional certificates, and mark sheets). In the case of
studies completed abroad, an equivalency certificate from the Higher Secondary
Education Board/Tribhuvan University must be provided.
(d)
For the families of Amar/disabled police personnel, documents proving the Amar(martyr)/disabled
status, along with documents verifying the relationship.
(e) For indigenous/Janajati
groups, document should confirm the ethnicity listed under the National
Foundation for Development of Indigenous Nationalities Act, If there are
surnames not listed under this Act, proof of belonging to the indigenous/Janajati
group should be certified by the Chief District Officer (CDO) based on a
recommendation from the head of the relevant local government body.
(f) For the Madhesi community,
proof of being Madhesi must be certified by an organization designated by the
Government of Nepal, as announced in the Nepal Gazette. If no organization is
designated, proof should be certified by the CDO based on a recommendation from
the head of the relevant local government body.
(g) For Dalits, proof of being a
Dalit must be based on the list certified by the National Dalit Commission. If
there are surnames not listed by the National Dalit Commission, proof of being
a Dalit should be certified by the CDO based on a recommendation from the head
of the relevant local government body.
(h) For backward regions (Achham, Kalikot,
Jajarkot, Jumla, Dolpa, Bajhang, Bajura, Mugu, Humla), the applicant must have
permanent residence in the respective district, must have obtained proof of
citizenship from the same district, and must submit a document proving
permanent residence in that place, certified by the concerned Rural Municipality
or Municipality, at the time of application. The certificate must have been
issued within the last three months before the submission of the
application. If citizenship has been obtained from a district other than the permanent
residence, a document stating the reason for obtaining citizenship from that
district must be submitted from the respective district administration
office.
Note: Candidates submitting the application must scan and upload all required documents, as specified in the advertisement, in their original form in PDF format into the ORMS system. Additionally, the candidate must upload their photo, signature, thumbprint (right/left), and the front and back sides of the citizenship certificate in JPG format.
Procedure for submitting the application and paying the fee:
(a) Visit the online application portal of Nepal Police at https://careers.nepalpolice.gov.np
and complete the registration process to receive a username and password. Use
these credentials to log in, fill out all the required details, and upload
clear scanned copies of the necessary documents. Once the profile is 100%
complete, the application can be submitted.
(b) After submitting the online application, the
application fee corresponding to the received Application ID must be paid
online via the Mahalehaka's (Accountant General's) portal using Connect IPS,
e-Sewa, Khalti, or IME Pay. For offline payment, download the transaction slip
with the EBP Code and make the payment at the relevant bank with a government
revenue account as per the application collection center.
Examination Procedure:
(a) Preliminary health examination and physical fitness test.
(b) Detailed health examination.
(c) Written examination (to be conducted by the Public Service
Commission at the exam centers specified by the Commission).
- For incorrect answers in the objective multiple-choice
questions, 20% of the marks will be deducted as a penalty.
- While answering the objective multiple-choice
questions, answers written in capital letters (A, B, C, D) in English will
not be accepted.
(d) Final health examination.
(e) Competency test and interview.
Examination Locations:
(a) For Police Inspector:
- Candidates who submit their applications at the Provincial Police Offices and the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, Kathmandu, will undergo the Preliminary Health Checkup and Physical Fitness Test at the National Police Academy, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu.
- The Detailed Health Checkup and Special Health Checkup will take place at the Nepal Police Hospital, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, while the Competency Test and Interview will be conducted at the Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, Kathmandu.
(b) For Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI):
- The Preliminary Health Checkup, Physical Fitness Test, and Detailed Health Checkup for applicants at the Provincial Police Training Centers and Kathmandu Valley Police Academy, Maharajgunj, will occur at the respective application collection centers.
- The Special Health Checkup will be held at the Nepal Police Hospital, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, and the Competency Test and Interview will take place at the Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, Kathmandu.

- The schedule for the Preliminary Health Checkup and Physical Fitness Test for the Police Inspector position will be released on 12th of Ashwin, 2081, on the Nepal Police website: www.nepalpolice.gov.np.
- Similarly, the schedule for the ASI position will be published on 13th of Ashwin, 2081, at the respective application collection centers and on the same website.
Special Notice Concerning the Advertisement:
This announcement has been made following the mandamus order dated
24th of Magh, 2079, in response to Writ No. 078-WO-0662
and other writs filed against the Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal,
Kathmandu, at the Supreme Court. This notice
incorporates the vacant positions that were previously excluded for the fiscal
year 2079/80 due to the quota set aside for inclusive
groups, in compliance with necessary legal provisions for inclusive
representation. This publication addresses the legal requirements to fill the
missed vacancies in the inclusive quota.
Additional Instructions:
- Candidates must upload scanned copies of all required documents when submitting their online application. The authenticity of the submitted certificates rests solely with the candidates.
- Applications submitted past the deadline, or those that do not meet the specified conditions, are incomplete, or lack the application fee, may be canceled at any stage.
- If the application is disapproved for not meeting the required conditions, the application fee will not be refunded.
- A notice will be posted on the Nepal Police website for candidates who have submitted applications through ORMS but are missing details or documents. If candidates do not provide the missing documents within the specified timeframe, their applications will be automatically canceled.
- Results will be published after each stage of the examination, and only candidates who pass will move on to the next phase.
- A single exam will be conducted for both open and inclusive categories. Candidates in the inclusive category will compete separately based on their scores, with positions filled accordingly.
- During the interview, candidates must present the original documents they submitted with their application, along with self-attested copies labeled "True Copy of the Original."
- According to Rule 13, Sub-rule (5) of the Police Regulations, 2071 (as amended), if additional positions become available after the advertisement is published, the position fulfillment committee may increase the number of available positions by publicly announcing them before the written exam results are disclosed.
